WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Guy Mathews, longtime White Plains High School guidance counselor, died Monday, according to a report by LoHud.com.
The cause of death is still unknown, however longtime friend Enrique Cafaro said Mathews was not feeling well on the drive to work on Friday and said Mathews had symptoms of a heart attack, and he drove himself to the Nyack Hospital and was transferred late Friday to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, where he was admitted into the intensive care unit, according to the report.
Mathews died about 8 p.m. with family nearby, according to the report.
School administrators are making counselors available to staff members and students, according to the report.
