The panelists shared their experiences and wisdom with the Health Services students, noting that the journey to success is not easy, and is not accomplished alone.

“What was important for me was realizing that I had something to contribute,” said Carle-Marie P. Memnon, FACHE, associate director, Graduate Medical Education, Hospital for Special Surgery, in Manhattan.

Students were also reminded that healthcare is always moving forward.

“As a nurse with a background in biomedical sciences, we need to consider all modalities and ask, ‘What can we do to better ourselves and our patients?’” said Caroline Ortiz, secretary of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, New York Chapter.

The discussion was moderated by Michael McDonough, Chair, Health Administration, Berkeley College School of Health Studies and Berkeley student Ashley Alba, National President of the Health Services Administration Student Club.
