WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. --Former CitiGroup and Time Warner CEO Dick Parsons will head up a committee to review Common Core standards in New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced.
As Daily Voice reported Monday, Sleepy Hollow Principal Carol Conklin-Spillane has also been appointed to the task force.
Parsons’ panel will reivew the standards, then present a series of recommendations to improve the system to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, NY State of Politics said.
The formation of the panel comes after nearly 20 percent of students opted out of English and Math standardized testing last school year. Cuomo hopes to have the recommendations in time for the State of the State address in January, NY State of Politics reported.
