Federal Exchange Program Brings Experience To White Plains School

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Exchange students from Argentina, Australia, Japan, South Korea and Switzerland will visit Ridgeway Elementary School Friday to share their home cultures with White Plains fifth graders, Cultural Vistas, a nonprofit, announced.

White Plains is one of three schools in the New York area that will host these exchange students, who are in the U.S. on intern and trainee exchanges as part of the U.S. Department of State’s Exchange Visitor Program. Cultural Vistas is a sponsor for the program and authorized in the intern, teacher and trainee categories of the J-1 Visa.

After completing the program, all exchange visitors return home to share their experience. At the same time these exchange students expose young American to foreign cultures, they also learn more about the American education system.

The other two schools that exchange students will visit are P.S. 321 in Brooklyn and P.S. 254 in Queens.
