Elmsford Voters Approve $8.6 Million Schools Bond

ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- An $8.6 million schools infrastructure bond has been approved by voters in the Elmsford School District by a tally of 222-130, district officials said.

In a statement after the votes had been counted Tuesday night, Superintendent of Schools Joseph Ricca, made the news public via a statement on the district's website.

"On behalf of the Elmsford School District Board of Education, we would like to take a moment to thank you for all of your help and support throughout the planning and presentation processes," Ricca said, calling the vote "historic."

The $8.6 million bond will go toward improvements at the Alexander Hamilton Jr./Sr. High School, the Alice E. Grady Elementary School and the Carl L. Dixson Primary School, according to information found on the district's website. It will cost the average home owner an additional $152 per year.

According to the district, the process of creating detailed design work for the projects will begin this month and continue through April, when the final project plans will be submitted to the state Education Department for approval.
