The meeting in the Alexander Hamilton High School library covered an array of items, including the status of the elementary school principal search, the importance of using the district website to access crucial information, and an update on the capital improvement project for the coming year.
The finalists for principal will meet with the Board of Education trustees in the coming weeks, said Ricca.
Ricca thanked district members for completing a recent community survey. The data will be analyzed in the coming weeks and all information will be utilized in planning for the future.
Architects are presently working on Phase I of the capital improvement project and hope to begin work in the summer of 2016.
This phase will include projects such as the replacement of unit ventilators, roof repairs and the replacement of the Alice E. Grady Elementary School playground.
It is anticipated that Phase II will commence in the summer of 2017.
The district is working with the architects and the State Education Department to schedule work during periods of time when the learning environment will be impacted least, during summer months.
In addressing the budget development process, Ricca said, "We will continue to maintain a strong, conservative budgetary outlook, while attempting to enrich our overall academic program."
The focus will be on arts offerings, district-wide safety initiatives and supporting students and faculty throughout the district, Ricca said.
