The in-depth program grant is geared for the upcoming 2015-16 school year, and will benefit six teachers from Alexander Hamilton Junior/Senior High School.
The teachers will participate in summer seminars, which will prepare them to teach a curriculum focused on examining history for lessons that apply to modern day efforts of reducing prejudice and other social injustices.
“We are thrilled to participate in a program that will continue to align with the Elmsford UFSD’s mission to support respect, responsibility and civic leadership,” Schools Superintendent Joseph Ricca said in a press release.
“The Facing History program will provide another outstanding opportunity for our young people to wrestle with complex topics while learning to become leaders themselves.”
