The 90-day Summer Program came out of collaboration between the college and university.

There were classes in English Business Communications, visits to American historical and cultural sites, as well as several business and government institutions in Westchester and New York City. The Chinese and Berkeley students visited the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City and IBM in Yorktown.

Calling it a “starting point” between the two, Chu Guangrong, chairman of the board of GUFE, speaking of the summer program said, “It is clear our students are learning and absorbing the local culture."

“We are experiencing what higher education can accomplish through collaboration – for our students, for our countries, and for business on a global scale,” said Michael J. Smith, president of Berkeley College.

The program students will present their final group presentations Oct. 13.
