Auditions Set For 'Mary Poppins' At Stepinac High School

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Archbishop Stepinac High School’s award-winning Drama Club has announced auditions will be held on Monday, Jan. 13 and Tuesday, Jan. 14 for its spring musical, "Mary Poppins."

This classical Disney story of the whimsical, proper, and high-spirited nanny consists of a cast with many featured roles and a large ensemble.

This will be a regional premiere. Walt Disney Theatricals has presented the school’s drama club with a pilot license to produce the show. Only six high schools across the country have been given this opportunity.

High school age females, grades 9-12 from, any public or private school  in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut regional areas are encouraged to audition.  Male roles will only be cast from current Stepinac students.

Interested females should attend one of the following audition dates Jan. 13 between 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. or Jan. 14 between 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Each day, auditions will be on a first come first serve basis. 

For the audition come prepared to dance, bring tap shoes if you tap and/or character shoes, and sing at least 16 bars of a musical-theater appropriate song.  An accompanist will be available to play your sheet music.

Callbacks for ensemble or featured roles will require attendance on both callback dates: Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for vocal callbacks and Thursday, Jan. 16 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for dancing and acting callbacks. Audition and callbacks will take place at the Major Bowes Auditorium at Archbishop Stepinac High School on 950 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains.
