Arietta replaces Dr. Jim Haubner, who is retiring after 14 years at Ardsley High School.
Arietta began his career as a social studies teacher at Nyack High School in 1998, moved into the position of department chair in 2007, and was appointed as the assistant principal in 2009. He became the assistant principal of Ardsley High School in July 2012.
“We are very excited that Mr. Arietta will continue his tenure at Ardsley High School as principal," said Dr. Lauren Allan, Superintendent. "Since he joined our District, he has clearly demonstrated the skills we most value – outstanding abilities as an innovative leader of staff and students, dedication to a positive school culture, expertise in instructional leadership and a deep understanding of the value parents bring as partners in the educational experience."
Arietta commented on his appointment.
“I am very excited to be the next principal of Ardsley High School," he said. "We have active parents who support the schools, motivated students who want to do well, hard working teachers, and an administration who give teachers the freedom to innovate."
Arietta is a lifelong resident of Rockland County and currently lives in Tappan with his wife and three children. He holds a bachelor's in history and African American studies from Fordham University and a master's in social studies from Teachers College, Columbia University.
“It has been a rewarding and enjoyable 14 years as Ardsley High School Principal and I will miss the students, faculty, and community," said Haubner. "However, I will leave knowing that the high school is in great hands with Mr. Arietta who will continue to provide students with a caring environment in which they can thrive and excel.”
