WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Ann Conetta Umstead has been named the chair of the College of Westchester Board of Trustees, the White Plains school announced Monday.
Conetta Umstead replaces Dr. William Papallo and begins her three-year term immediately. She has served on the board since 1996 and, before that, the college’s Advisory Council. She brought her experience as co-founder and former chief financial officer of the Norwalk-based computer consulting company, Computer SI Corporation, to the Advisory Council as it expanded its course offerings online.
“As Chair of the Board of Trustees I am honored to be able to help the board evaluate the college's strategic goals, reinforce its mission and offer support and counsel to [Karen] Smith,” Conetta Umstead said in a statement. “I am aware that I have very big shoes to fill succeeding our previous chairmen, Ernest Sutkowski and Dr. Papallo.”
Karen Smith is the president of the college.
“The College of Westchester is fortunate to have Mrs. Conetta Umstead as Chairwoman,” Smith said in the statement. “She understands the college mission, has played a critical role in both the growth and direction of the college for many years and will continue to serve in this new, critical capacity, with a keen eye to ensuring our mission is met.”
The former English teacher graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Albertus Magnus College and a master’s from Iona College in New Rochelle.
