The Metropolitan Police Department announced on Tuesday afternoon that 51-year-old Northeast DC resident Angelo Clinscale has been charged with kidnapping after he stole a vehicle with a 2-year-old in the car in August.

Police say that on Wednesday, Aug. 9, Clinscale was in the 4800 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE when he approached his victim's vehicle and stole it.

However, unbeknownst to the shifty suspect, 2-year-old Kaleb Scott was in the backseat, prompting the thief to bail out and leave both the kid and stolen car in the 1200 block of 49th Street.

Scott was unharmed after the eventful day, which included an Amber Alert until he was found safely in the backseat of the running vehicle.
