Putnam receives $472,500 in 'Hunger Games' State Grant Competition

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Putnam County received $472,500 in the state's grant competition, dubbed "Hunger Games," which will fund three projects, according to Louhud.com.

The majority of the funding, $400,000, will be used to create a new public space in Philipstown where the money will be used to design a 14-mile stretch of the Hudson Highland Fjord Trail, said the news source.

Of the remainder, $50,000 will go toward a feasibility study for a countywide economic development and tourism project and $22,500 to Patterson to study the possibility of combing the area's two volunteer fire departments, said Lohud.com.
