Primrose Student Fatally Injured In Crash

SOMERS, N.Y. - Madison Bookall, 7, a second grader at the Primrose School, was killed in an automobile accident on Saturday, November 19, when the vehicle in which she was traveling went out of control.

The crash occurred as they were driving north along Mahopac Avenue in a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, said State Police Investigator Barquin of the State Police Barracks in Somers.

Madison was in the back seat with her twin brother, Michael. Both children were wearing seat belts. Their mother, Tracey, was driving Michael to his karate class. She was also wearing her seat belt.

It happened about 11:35 a.m., Barquin said. “For some unknown reason the car sideswiped a tree and then hit another. The little girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The others were taken to the Medical Center in Valhalla.”

Officer Barquin said there did not appear to be any recognizable cause of the accident. “We’d like to talk to the parents today but it’s very tough. At a time like this, you also want to leave them alone.”

Both Mrs. Bookall and her son Michael were released from the hospital with minor injuries, he said.
