“I think he’s been doing a great job with the circumstances he’s been given,” said Porta, a lifelong White Plains resident.
Approximately half of registered voters in Districts 1 and 14 had voted at the German School as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, which one poll worker said was a very good turnout. In District 1, 480 people voted, and in District 14, 302 voted.
There was a similar turnout at the Ridgeway School, where 350 of about 700 voters turned out for District 13.
“No one in his right mind would have expected [Obama] to fix the mess he was left with,” Sylvia Woloshia, a registered Democrat, said after voting for Barack Obama.
Francis Rosenzweig and her husband, Carlton, who have lived in White Plains for 40 years, said they worried that those affected by Hurricane Sandy might not vote.
“I just hope enough people get out to vote, especially people who were displaced by Hurricane Sandy,” said Francis, who voted at White Plains High School.
