The funds will be used to construct a fully accessible youth playground and tot lot which will include rubberized safety surfaces, a chain-link fence enclosure, new benches, game tables, picnic tables and an outdoor gym, according to a release. The playground was last updated in 1996. In addition, new shade structures will be built and landscaping will be updated as part of an overall facelift.

“This park is a vital and important part of the Fisher Hill neighborhood in White Plains,” Paulin said in the release. “Updating this playground will make it that much more inviting, safe and entertaining for the families that frequent the park.”

White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach commended Paulin.

"I want to thank Assemblywoman Paulin for her strong support of the City's proposal to renovate Kittrell Park,” Roach said. “This is a neighborhood park that is heavily used but in real need of an upgrade. The State and Municipal Facilities Program funding that the City has been awarded will have a significant impact on what we are able to do there and the park improvements will ultimately benefit not just the surrounding neighborhood, but all of the residents of White Plains."
