Pataki, the former New York governor who is now a Republican presidential contender, said he had a chuckle when hearing about Bush cutting about 40 percent of his campaign budget.

Talking to CNN's Kate Bolduan on Friday, Pataki joked that he "knew something about tight belts," noting that his campaign has been run on a tiny budget, reported CNN.

The former New York governor had only $13,000 cash on hand in his campaign fund at the end of September.
