ALBANY, N.Y. -- Senators returning to Albany in January will find new furniture in the Legislative Office Building and the Capitol, according to NY State of Politics.
Majority Leader John Flanagan sent all senators a memo explaining that most of the office furniture was purchased at the same time as the establishment of Legislative Plaza, which was 50 years ago, NY State of Politics reported.
Flanagan did not say how much the furniture cost, but a spokesman noted that under GOP leadership, the chamber has routinely come in under budget every year since 2011. Even after the purchase of this brand new furniture, the GOP expects to still have a surplus of $2.5 million this year, NY State of Politics said.
