National Death Penalty Opponent Speaks At Manhattanville College

HARRISON, N.Y. – A national death penalty opponent will speak at the 17th annual Schwarzschild Memorial Lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Reid Castle at Manhattanville College, 2900 Purchase St., Purchase, N.Y.

The event is co-sponsored by The Lower Hudson Valley Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union and the Connie Hogarth Center for Social Action.

The featured speaker, Diann Rust-Tierney, is executive director of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. She is an experienced nonprofit manager with 30 years of public policy and litigation advocacy and served as the director of the American Civil Liberties Union Capital Punishment Project. Additionally, she served as the chief legislative counsel and associate director of the Washington Office of the American Civil Liberties Union.
