A petition to edit out Dean Skelos' name from the Dean Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Center, N.Y., reportedly has 300 signatures, says Newsday.
The petition was driven by James Coll, a detective with the New York City Police Department, who is also an adjunct professor teaching American and constitutional history at Hofstra University, according to the article.
The facility is named for the former State Senate Republican leader who was convicted of public corruption.
Coll reportedly told Newsday he passes the complex nearly every day and frequently wonders how it was named for Skelos, Newsday says.
Skelos could not be reached by Newsday to comment.
