LWV Hosts Voter Registration Drives In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Local chapters of the League of Women Voters will hold voter registration drives in the coming weeks as part of the organization’s inaugural National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday.

It is surprising to me how many people who are not registered around here. This is one of those freedoms we are afforded and it’s going to be especially critical here this year.”

Madeline Zevon, president of the White Plains LWV , said her chapter has registered nearly 100 people at seven drives in September, and has two more scheduled for Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the White Plains YMCA and the White Plains Housing Authority , respectively.

The New Rochelle chapter has held four at the city’s three college campuses – Iona College, College of New Rochelle and Monroe College - with another scheduled for Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Monroe College .
