MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- If you want a chance to ask candidates questions in the contested elections for Mamaroneck Village Trustee or state Senate, you'll get a chance this evening.
The League of Women Voters of Larchmont-Mamaroneck is sponsoring a candidates’ forum starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Town of Mamaroneck Courtroom, 740 W. Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck. Doors open at 7 p.m. Oct. 26.
Candidates in contested elections for state Senate and seeking three seats on the Mamaroneck Village Board of Trustees will debate each other as they answer questions from the LWV-LM and audience.
Prior to the debates, state Assemblyman Steve Otis, D-Rye, who is running unopposed on Nov. 8, also will respond to questions.
In Senate District 37, state Sen. George Latimer, D-Rye, is being challenged by Republican Julie Killian of Rye.
If you need to review key issues, or see what the Senate candidates are debating, here is a link to this month's forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of White Plains. Latimer and Killian also squared off Tuesday night at Rye Middle School.
Also matched up at tonight's forum are six candidates running for three seats on the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees: Leon Potok, a Democrat, is the incumbent. The Republican candidates are Dennis Cucinella, Maria DeRose and J. Malte Stoeckhert. The other two Democrats running for village board seats are Victor Tafur and Keith Waitt.
