Clinton, who has lived in Chappaqua since she and former President Bill Clinton left the White House in 2000, turns 68 on Monday, Oct. 26.

The former U.S. Senator and First Lady is continually in the news these days, as the front-runner in the Democratic presidential primary.

She is also a new grandmother of one year-old Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky, born last September.

Clinton heartened supporters when she was called the clear winner in the first Democratic presidential candidate debate Oct. 13.

A native of Illinois, Clinton met 42nd President Bill Clinton when they were both in Yale Law School, and married him in 1975. She has been First Lady of Arkansas, and First Lady of the United States. While serving with her husband in Arkansas she maintained a thriving law practice, and was made the first female partner in The Rose Law Firm in 1979.

After moving to Westchester County, Clinton was elected first female U.S. Senator from New York in 2000, and she is the only First Lady to seek and win elective office after leaving Washington. Clinton distinguished herself as New York Senator, and ran for president against Barack Obama in the 2008 primary election. She lost, but was appointed Secretary of State by Obama and served from 2009 to 2013.

Clinton’s political philosophy is a complex stance that is humanist, populist, and occasionally conservative. She represents a community-centered point of view that is favorable to children and families. After leaving the Obama administration in 2013, she authored her fifth book before announcing her second run for the Democratic nomination.
