Cuomo Pushes For $15 Minimum Wage

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo knows his proposal to raise minimum wage to $10.50 an hour throughout the sate, and $11.50 in New York City failed earlier in the year, but that isn't stopping him from pushing again -- this time to $15 an hour, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Cuomo hopes to have minimum wage at the $15 mark by 2018 in New York City, and throughout the entire state by 2021 despite a Republican controlled senate who blocked his previous measure due to concerns about negative impacts on small business. He unveiled the plan last week at a rally in New York along with Vice President Joe Biden, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

The current minimum wage in New York is $8.75 an hour.
