The NewDEAL is a national network that is "committed to highlighting innovative ideas from state and local elected leaders who are pro-growth progressives," according to a press release. Gov. Martin O’Malley of Maryland and U.S. Sen. Mark Begich of Alaska, honorary chairs of the NewDEAL, recently recognized Assemblyman Buchwald’s efforts to "expand opportunity by modernizing rules that spur investment in science and technology," according to the release.
“Senator Begich and I have joined the NewDEAL because we believe we need to look for fresh ideas not just from the top down in Washington, but also from the bottom up, where innovative leaders like David Buchwald are developing and testing their ideas out on the ground,” O’Malley said.
“In communities throughout the country, rising state and local leaders such as David Buchwald are proving that you can be both pro-growth and progressive. The NewDEAL is designed to foster these types of ideas and these types of leaders,” Begich said.
“I am proud to be recognized by the NewDEAL,” Buchwald said. “I have supported initiatives that promote science and technology with great enthusiasm in order to both propel our economy forward and to help address national and global challenges. The ability to share ideas with my fellow NewDEAL Leaders, and hear about what’s working best in their communities, can help to expand opportunities for more people here in New York State. It is a great honor to be a new member of this energetic and progressive organization.”
