'Yelling Match' With White Plains Policeman Leads to Arrest

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Somers man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for antagonizing a police officer on foot patrol in downtown White Plains in the early morning hours Sunday, police said.

The suspect, 21, walked up behind an officer standing in front of 161 Mamaroneck Ave. in a “suspicious manner,” according to the police report. Another officer ordered him to walk away, but the report says the suspect was belligerent and began yelling. His three friends pushed him against a wall to get him away from the officer, but he continued to yell and eventually broke free, police said. He approached the same officer again, and was ordered to leave the area a second time, police said.

His friends surrounded him and pulled him away again, but he continued to yell, police said. The officers told his friends to take him home, but the report says the suspect broke free a third time while still yelling at the officer.

Police then arrested him and charged him with two counts of disorderly conduct, a violation. He was held for court.
