WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains man punched his 15-year-old nephew in the face twice, sending him to the hospital with minor injuries, because the youth wore his sneakers, police said.
Lincoln Dreppie, 35, was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree menacing, and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors. The suspect lives with his sister, nephew and niece in White Plains, and accused his nephew of wearing his sneakers without permission Oct. 19, police said.
During the argument, he punched his nephew in the mouth, causing his lip to spilt and bleed, the police report says. He left the apartment, returned a short time later, and punched his nephew again, this time in the right eye, which later required stitches, the report says. The victim then got a bat from his bedroom to protect himself.
The suspect also threatened his niece, 17, and pushed his sister, 42, to the ground, before police arrived, the report says.
The suspect was arrested, but refused to give a statement.
