WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains man, 59, was arrested and charged with stealing a $199 digital camera and $25 perfume set from Walmart, according to a police report.
Store security told police on Aug. 26 the suspect, Alvin Cook, entered the electronics section, where he allegedly took a FujiFilm digital camera from its display shelf and tried to hide it in a blue plastic bag. He then went to the cosmetics section and took a White Diamonds perfume set from its display rack, and hid it in the same bag, the police report said.
When Cook tried to leave the store through the front entrance, store security stopped him and held him for police, police said. Cook was arrested and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
A few days earlier, on Aug. 24, two White Plains men also were charged with petit larceny for stealing a Hometrends television stand worth $20 from Walmart, according to a police report.
Store security stopped Jose Alarco, 32, and Javier DeLaCruz, 44, outside the store on Main Street while they were trying to put the item into the trunk of a car and arrested them, police said.
