White Plains Man Charged In Knifepoint Robbery

Please see our updated story on this case, with additional information from police.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains man was charged with armed robbery and assault early Wednesday, and is also being looked at as a potential suspect in another robbery reported the previous morning, police said.

Tremell Robinson was charged with four felonies: first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, second-degree strangulation and second-degree assault. He was also charged with three misdemeanors: second-degree menacing, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim, a 27-year-old man from New York City, told police that Robinson assaulted him near 10 Hamilton Ave. around 1:12 a.m. and stole his white iPhone, worth $500, at knifepoint.

The day before around 4 a.m., a White Plains man, 28, was walking home near Lafayette and Fisher avenues when two men assaulted him, police said. The assailants punched the victim in the face and head with their fists and took his white Casio watch, cell phone, gold necklace and wallet containing $160. They then ran away down Denison Avenue toward South Lexington Avenue.

The victim could describe only one of the two assailants, saying he was a thin black man between 25 and 30 years old. The victim reported the incident late Tuesday evening after going to work in the morning.

Police said they think the two incidents may be related, but are still investigating the latter for suspects. The suspects in the latter incident would face third-degree robbery charges, a felony.
