WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains man was arrested and charged with assaulting his mother and son, according to a police report.

Kristopher Upton, 28, got into a dispute early Monday morning with his mother, 52, about his son, who he believed stole money from another party. The argument became physical and he swatted his mother’s hand and pushed her into the door of the apartment where they both live, the report says.

According to the police report, the child yelled, “Dad stop,” which angered Upton, who then slapped and punched his son. The mother then grabbed Upton from behind to restrain him, but he flung her off and punched his son again.

Upton’s mother told police her son has a history of violence and said she is afraid of him and doesn’t want to see him hitting her grandson again.

Upton was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors. He was being held by police, pending a court appearance.
