WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Security at the Macy’s department store in the White Plains Galleria mall reported Saturday that a man stole a Gucci watch worth $1,050, according to a police report.

Store security told police that a man wearing a pink shirt and khaki pants entered the second level and asked an employee to see a Gucci watch from the display. The employee handed him the watch, and he took off running, the report says. He ran out of the store and was not found.

Store security told police the man was caught on video, which will be kept in case he returns. If caught, the thief would face a charge of fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

The next day, Edelmira Espejo, 47, of Rye Brook was charged with petty larceny for stealing a gold chain worth $139.99 from Sears at the Galleria, White Plains police said.

Espejo entered the store’s jewelry department around 3 p.m. and took a gold chain from the display rack, the report says. She tried to leave the store without paying for it, the report says, but was arrested by police.

She was released on $500 bail and appeared in court Tuesday.
