White Plains K-9 Unit Helps Subdue Man Who Allegedly Cashed Fake Checks

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-- White Plains police say a criminal is now in custody thanks to the efforts of Storm, a German Shepherd in the K-9 unit, according to News 12 Westchester.

Akbar Falbru was acting suspiciously in the Chase Bank on Mamaroneck Avenue on Tuesday when an employee signaled the alarm, News 12 reported. 

Falbru fled the scene and attempted to hide in a nearby neighborhood. Authorities said when Falbru emerged from a back yard he apparently reached for a weapon. The officer unleashed Storm, who subdued the subject, according to News 12.

Falbru was arraigned on forgery and grand larceny charges.
