Wal-Mart Shoppers, Employee Charged In Thefts

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Wal-Mart employee was accused stealing $70 from his own register, according to a White Plains police report.

Shaquille Taylor, 19, was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Police responded Thursday morning, Aug. 16, to Wal-Mart at 275 Main St., where store security officers said they saw Taylor take $50 and $20 bills, crumple them up, and put them in his front right pocket.

Security took police to Taylor’s register, where a search revealed a $50 bill and a $20 bill in his wallet. He was arrested, then later released on his own recognizance.

A few hours later, two women also were charged with petty larceny, accused of stealing $234.16 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart.

According to the police report, a 22-year-old Mount Vernon woman stole 12 pairs of panties and four push-up bras totaling $101.76; and a 26-year-old White Plains woman stole six DVDs, 12 pairs of panties and six push-up bras totaling $132.40. Both hid the merchandise in their purses, police said.

Wal-Mart security apprehended both women and held them for police, who arrested them. Both were held for court appearances.
