Two White Plains Teens Charged In Robbery, Assault

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Tremell Robinson, 16, was not alone when he threatened a New York City man with a weapon and stole his iPhone and baseball cap early Wednesday, police said.

Robinson and Darrel Smith, 18, are accused of following the 27-year-old man, who was walking toward the White Plains train station after 1 a.m. The victim told police he was grabbed from behind and choked by one assailant, then threatened with a screwdriver by the other, near 10 Hamilton Ave. around 1:12 a.m. They stole his white iPhone, worth $500, and Mariners baseball cap, then ran away down Fisher Avenue, according to the police report.

Robinson was charged with first- and second-degree robbery, both felonies; and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. Smith was charged with second-degree strangulation and assault, both felonies; and criminal possession of stolen property and a weapon, both misdemeanors.

The victim's phone and the screwdriver were recovered Wednesday when officers apprehended the two White Plains teens on Fisher Avenue, one of whom was wearing a Mariners cap, police said.
