Bobby Jackson has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after pleading guilty in March to felony counts of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Tuesday.
According to Scarpino, shortly before 5:30 p.m. on April 17, Jackson's victim was riding his bicycle on East 3rd Street when Jackson spotted him and began jogging toward him. After chasing him for two blocks, Jackson fired multiple shots at the victim, one of which struck him in the back.
The bullet entered the victim's back, "ripping through his kidney, colon, liver and a major artery to the lung." He proceeded to fall from his bicycle, hit his head on the concrete pavement and died within minutes. Scarpino noted that at the time of the shooting, there were multiple pedestrians on the street, including a woman pushing a baby in a stroller, who were all in the line of fire.
Jackson has been remanded into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections.
