Jamil Fields, 55, of the Bronx was charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault for shooting 24-year-old Mouhamed Cisse, also of the Bronx, said New York State Police spokeswoman Melissa McMorris.

The incident took place around 5:49 p.m. July 18, on I-95 northbound between Exit 18B and Exit 19 near the Harrison/Mamaroneck border, McMorris said.

Troopers arrived on scene and found Cisse on the side of the road with serious injuries, including numerous gunshot wounds, McMorris said.

Fields was nabbed when investigators conducting follow-up interviews in the Bronx, spotted Fields driving a U-Haul van on Nereid Avenue. The investigators followed the van and subsequently located Fields and the van on Richardson Avenue where he was taken into custody, McMorris said.

He was arraigned at the Harrison Police Station and was remanded to the Westchester County jail without bail. Fields is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Harrison Justice Court on Tuesday.

Cisse remains in critical condition at Jacobi Medical Center.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Fields, driving a GMC U-Haul van bearing Arizona license plates with front end damage was noted swerving in the roadway.

He then struck a maroon Honda which was also traveling northbound on I-95. The van became temporarily disabled on the grassy shoulder of the roadway before it re-entered the roadway.

Fields then fled the area, but an eyewitness was able to take the photograph of the van.
