Police: Mailboxes Stolen From White Plains Neighborhood

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Mailbox owners beware – police said they received three reports from the same neighborhood of stolen mailboxes over the weekend.

A Paddock Road woman reported she went away for the weekend Friday, and when she returned Sunday her copper mailbox, worth $200, was missing. Police told her to notify the postmaster, bank and credit card companies to be on the lookout for possible fraud.

Another two incidents were reported Friday by Hilair Circle residents, down the street from Paddock Road. One woman reported she noticed her mailbox, worth $1,200, missing around 8 a.m., but her mail had been placed on the ground next to where the mailbox used to be.

Another Hilair Circle resident reported he noticed his mailbox, worth $300, missing Friday at 7 a.m. He had last checked his mail the night before around 7:30 p.m.

In each case, the suspect is unknown, police said.
