WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Multiple fights broke out in front of Gryphons in downtown White Plains in the early morning hours Sunday, resulting in several arrests for disorderly conduct, police said.
Police reported they saw about 150 disorderly people in front of the bar, including a White Plains man, 35, who was arrested at 3:52 a.m. He was charged with disobeying orders by police officers trying to break up fights and clear the sidewalks. Police gave him several orders to leave the area, but he refused, resulting in his arrest. He was charged with disorderly conduct, a violation, and was held for court.
Police arrested and charged another White Plains man, 28, with disorderly conduct four minutes later, just after police had cleared the sidewalks and were about to leave the area. The Ferris Avenue resident, who police reported had been involved in a fight earlier with several unknown people, was trying to continue the fight, according to the police report.
Officers told him to leave the area several times, but he refused, and began to flare his arms and yell at the officers, resulting in his arrest. When asked why he disobeyed orders to disperse, the suspect told police he wanted to get payback on those he had fought earlier, according to the report.
The suspect had bruising and a small laceration on his eyebrow, but refused medical treatment. He was held on $400 bail.
