Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced that Bronx resident Clevon Reeves has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree rape, a violent felony, dating back to an incident in 2014.

According to Scarpino, on Nov. 22, 2014, as Reeves’ victim was entering her Cortlandt Street apartment in Mount Vernon, he pushed her inside from behind, forced her onto the floor and forcibly rape her. During the rape, Reeves also choked his victim before fleeing the scene.

Scarpino said that the victim called police immediately to report her attack, prompting an investigation by the Mount Vernon Police Department. The victim was transported to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and submitted to a sexual assault evidence collection kit.

The DNA was subsequently submitted to the Westchester County Department of Laboratories and Research for analysis and Reeves came up as a suspect. He was identified as the lead suspect on Jan. 30, 2015. Following a lengthy search by police, Reeves was arrested in October 2016.
