Man Attacked at White Plains ATM Faces Charge

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A White Plains man told police he was attacked Wednesday morning while stopped in his car at a drive-through ATM, according to a police report.

Julio Pereira, 36, told police that, at 8:10 a.m. at the 566 North Broadway Chase Bank ATM, a North White Plains man, 47, reached into his car and honked the horn, then allegedly became aggressive with him, the report said. This led to a physical altercation between the two that caused some scratches on both men.

Neither party wanted to press charges against the other when police arrived on a report of a fight. However, police did charge Pereira with aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, after an identification check revealed his license had been revoked.

Pereira was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was later released on $100 bail. He was issued a June 21 court appearance date.

The vehicle, owned by another White Plains resident, was impounded by New York Recovery.
