The hectic weekend began on Friday morning, when an officer observed a woman using her cell phone while driving on East Parkway, shortly after 9 a.m. Upon initiating a traffic stop for the violation, the officer found that the driver, Hartsdale resident Michelle Colonia, had her license suspended for “pending prosecution by court, blood alcohol content count,” and “failing to answer a summons.”

According to the police report, Colonia, 24, had an outstanding arrest warrant issued from the village of Mamaroneck. Colonia was arrested, booked in Scarsdale Police Headquarters and held for Mamaroneck police. She was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle for the second time and cited for using a mobile device while driving.

Later that day, shortly before 11 p.m., Manhattan resident Brian Cohen, 26, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he was pulled over following his reckless driving on otherwise quiet village streets.

“On Fenimore Road, I activated my emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop said vehicle and initiate a motor vehicle stop. (Cohen) did not stop or pull their vehicle to the right of the road,” the police report reads. “While on Fenimore Road, I observed said vehicle pass two vehicles on the left by crossing the center yellow lines and entering the eastbound lane.”

Following that quick chase, Cohen sped off onto the Bronx River Parkway, temporarily suspending officers’ pursuit. While the pursuing officers made their return to Scarsdale, they “observed the aforementioned vehicle at rest on the northbound side of the Bronx River Parkway near the exit for East Parkway, facing southwest and appearing to have been involved in a collision.”

When approached by officers, Cohen simply stated, “I made mistakes,” and made note that no other parties were involved. Both Cohen and his passenger refused medical attention. He subsequently struggled during the Standard Field Sobriety Tests and alcohol was detected on his breath.

According to an accident report, Cohen was using his cell phone at the time he lost control of his vehicle. He was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. Additionally, he was cited for speeding, driving illegally and failure to obey police officers.

He was later released on $250 cash bail to his mother. He is due back in court on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
