Shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday morning, police were dispatched to Manhattan Avenue, where Diego Chillogalli was asleep behind the wheel, with his cousin snoozing in the passenger’s seat, neither of whom were responsive to various attempts by officers to wake them.

According to police, when they opened the door of the vehicle to check on the well being of the men, they “observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and a half full Corona beer bottle in the center consul with music playing at a very high volume.” It took the officers several attempts to wake Chillogalli, who stumped out of the car and was “very uncoordinated.”

Chillogalli stated that he had consumed one beer - a number that would fluctuate during his interview - and was dropping his cousin at home nearby. Chillogalli failed several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and after completing the tests, told police that he had three beers.

Following the testing, Chillogalli was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. A subsequent DMV check revealed that he had a revoked license for a prior DWI conviction earlier this year. He was also in violation of his interlock device restriction. Chillogalli is awaiting arraignment in White Plains on multiple charges.
