DWI Stop Results In Three Arrests In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Police stopped a car driving the wrong way on Main Street, a one way, at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, resulting in three arrests for DWI, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, according to a police report.

Jose Castillo of New Rochelle was driving the white 2002 Cadillac Deville, with three passengers, the wrong way on Main Street, as well as toward a police car. He was pulled over and failed a field sobriety test, at which point he was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.

At police headquarters, police said he refused to take a breath test. He was held for court.

When Castillo was arrested, police told his three passengers to leave the car because it was being impounded. However, one passenger, a 26-year-old White Plains woman, remained inside while talking on her cell phone. Police told her again to get out of the car, at which point she collected her things and stepped outside into the road. Police then told her to get on the sidewalk three times and she refused. On the third command, police gave her to the count of four. She said, "I'll wait 'till four," then got onto the sidewalk at the count of four.

Police then ordered the three passengers to leave the area, which the White Plains woman also refused to do. At this point, police arrested her and charged her with disorderly conduct. While one officer escorted her to the police car, one of the other passengers ran behind him, but was arrested by the second officer and also charged with disorderly conduct.

Once both were placed in the police car, the woman kicked out the rear passenger window, causing it to be taken out of service and over $250 in damage to the window frame.

The woman was then charged with third-degree criminal mischief. At police headquarters, police said she urinated on the floor while standing at the booking desk in front of other police offices and prisoners. She and the other passenger arrested for disorderly conduct were held without bail.
