The Rev. William Stanley James, 92, Of White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Rev. William Stanley James, 92, of White Plains, died on Wednesday, April 1.

He was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Puerto Rico, to Elva and Arthur James.

He was raised in Smithfield, N.Y., and graduated from Princeton Seminary in 1946.

James earned a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh. He was a former minister of the Eastchester Presbyterian Church. He later took his ministry to the Westchester Department of Social Services.

Survivors include two sons, David Corwin James and Robert Gillespie James; one daughter, Mary (Charles) Little; and three grandchildren.

His wife, Christine Gillespie James, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, at Rye Presbyterian Church, 882 Boston Post Road, Rye.
