Sr. Jackson was born in the Bronx in 1930, she was the daughter of Samuel and Helen Jackson. She attended St. Frances de Chantal School in Throgs Neck and St. Jean the Baptiste High School in Manhattan. She received her nursing degree from St. Vincent Academy and for many years served as the nurse in the congregation. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Iona College and was a certified as an AIDS counselor and an Alcoholism counselor.
In addition to serving as the nurse at Good Counsel, she also worked at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, the Rockland Psychiatric Center and New York Hospital in White Plains.
Sr. Jackson is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion; cousin, Linda; nephew, Stephen Jackson; and several grand nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Good Counsel Convent and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. April 30 in the Chapel of the Divine Compassion, 52 North Broadway, White Plains. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
