WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Robert V. Tiburzi, a lifelong White Plains resident, died July 5. He was 87.
Tiburzi was born to Julio and Anna. He served in the navy during World War II and worked as a builder for 60 years. He was a founding director and officer of the St. Vincent DePaul Foundation. He also served on the board of directors of the Lavelle School for the Blind and volunteered his time to oversee numerous building renovations to improve the learning environment for blind and disabled children. He was a long time member of the Builders Institute and the March of Dimes, where he chaired the Annual Dine Around Fundraiser and was honored as the Man of the Year.
Tiburzi is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy); sons, Robert (Joan) of Harrison, Edward (Patty) of Harrison and John (June) of White Plains; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Laura Pitassi; and brother, Vincent.
Calling hours are Monday, July 8 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
