YONKERS/SCARSDALE, N.Y. - Rita Spector, formerly of Yonkers and Scarsdale, died Wednesday, Sept. 24. She was 87.
Spector was born Feb. 27, 1927, in the Bronx, to Toby Katz and Bertie Gottsegen. She resided most of her life in Yonkers. After graduating from New York University and receiving a graduate degree from Hunter College, she taught for many years at the Berkeley College in White Plains.
Spector is survived by her children, Shelley Garfinkel, Barry Spector (Janice); four grandchildren; a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Abraham Spector.
Funeral services will be held at noon Sunday, Sept. 28 at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 21 West Broad St., Mount Vernon. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Saddle Brook, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.
