The Rev. William Stanley James, 92, Of White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Rev. William Stanley James died peacefully in his home Wednesday, April 1, surrounded by his family and his caregiver, Viola. He was 92.

James was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Puerto Rico to Elva and Arthur James. He grew up in Smithfield, N.Y., and attended Millbrook Prep School. He graduated from Princeton University and Princeton Seminary, earning a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Christine. He is survived by his children, David Corwin James, Robert Gillespie James and Mary James Little; three granddaughters, Jamie, Molly and Annie; a son-in-law, Charles Robert Little; and his sister, Carolyn James Ficklen.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Rye Presbyterian Church, 882 Boston Post Road, Rye.
