Maureen Ann Russo, 77, Of White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Maureen Ann Russo , a former resident of Shrub Oak and Ossining and a long-term resident of White Plains, died on April 28. She was 77.

Russo was born as Maureen Ann Bustamante in Brooklyn on Oct. 30, 1937 to Marie Ulissi and Maurice Bustamante, later being adopted by stepfather Andre Ulissi.

She graduated from White Plains High School and Berkeley College, becoming an entrepreneur by operating her stepfather's beauty salon and later owning two Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios in Westchester for almost 30 years.

Russo suffered from a rare neurological disease known as progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) for six years.

She is survived by her husband Jack, her sister Cynthia (Ulissi) Rogers and husband James, three daughters Andrea Russo Durkin, Karen Russo, Suzanne Trapp and husband Alex, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at St. Augustine's Church in Ossining.

Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Russo's memory to curepsp.org or Hospice Care of Westchester and Putnam.
