Mary Annette Axthelm, 98, Of White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Mary Annette Axthelm (nee Marie Grimm) of White Plains died March 26. She was 98.

Axthelm was born April 17, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Pauline Charlotte (nee Wright) and Henry Peter Grimm. She attended schools there and graduated from Bushwick High School. She became a secretary to an executive of the Graybar Electric Company in New York City. After her marriage she lived in Richmond Hill, Long Island, before moving to White Plains in 1958. She was active in PTA activities, and also became a den mother. She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church since 1958 and served as corresponding secretary for the Women of St. Bartholomew's for many years. She was a member of the Woman's Club of White Plains and served on its Board of Directors in various capacities. She was also a member of the B. Altman & Co. Fashion Advisory Board.

Axthelm is survived by her son, Paul Everett Axthelm of Syracuse. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Wm. Axthelm; son, David Wayne Axthelm; and sister, Charlote Grimm Widlake.

Calling hours are Friday, March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Ave. at South Broadway, White Plains. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at the funeral home followed by burial at the family plot in White Plains Rural Cemetery.
